Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

Dear Diversity Scholars and Alumni,

The Diversity Scholarship Program (DSP) of the National Trust for Historic Preservation continues to accept applications for 2009 Diversity Scholars.  The goal of the Diversity Scholarship Program is to increase the diversity of participants at the National Preservation Conference and in the preservation movement.  This year's conference, themed "Sustaining the Future in Harmony with our Past" will be held in Nashville, Tennessee from October 13-17, 2009

The scholarship covers registration and hotel accommodations for awardees.  Ideal candidates are community leaders from diverse social, economic, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.   Remember that alumni can apply for a second diversity scholarship; however, eligibility is limited to no more than two conferences per scholar.  The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, June 15, 2009 A limited number of scholarships are available.  To apply online or for additional program details, please visit our website at http://www.preservationnation.org/resources/training/npc/npc-scholarships.html.

We encourage you to apply and spread the word about the good work of the Trust and the value of DSP to anyone and everyone whom might be appropriate candidates.  Attached is a flyer for your use in spreading the word!
