Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

The P.A.C.E. Center would like to invite all of you to attend The BAC's 2009 Career Symposium, being held this Saturday, April 4th from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at 320 Newbury Street.

The Career Symposium will offer workshops and individual appointments to help students with their job search.  It will also be an opportunity for students to think about long-term professional goals and learn more about careers in related industries.

::: Strengthen Professional Presentation & Knowledge :::
Students will be able to participate in mock interviewing with BAC Alumni, and work on portfolios, resumes, cover letters, interview skills, and networking skills. There will also be a workshop focusing on the IDP/IDEP licensure process.

::: Consider Your Long-Term Career Goals :::
We will have a panel of professionals with diverse backgrounds in fields relating to design available to talk to students from 12:00 – 3:00.  Among those in attendance are representatives from Autodesk, Green Jobs Coalition, Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, Neoscape, and the Center for Human-Centered Design. Representatives will be available to speak with students individually, and will also be engaged in a panel discussion of design-related careers.

::: Make New Contacts :::
The afternoon will end with a Networking Reception in Cascieri Hall from 3:00 - 5:00, where we will be providing light refreshments and raffling off a series of prizes. Talk to, and make contacts with, Practice and Academic faculty, design professionals, staff, alumni, fellow students, and others in the BAC community.

We encourage all students to RSVP on the Practice BAC Facebook Events page, and all others with questions to email practice@the-bac.edu.

Thank you and we hope to see you on Saturday!
