Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

BACKGROUND

For decades, Boston has been plagued with a Nightlife scene that has not been conducive to people of color especially Blacks.  Boston has struggled with its image as a city unfriendly to its African American residents. Historically, black professionals have come (or returned) to Boston to work, only to leave within a couple o f years because of the lack of opportunities to connect, network, and appreciate our cultural identity. We are trying to change that!

Building the Boston Black Nightlife Scene.

Our last three meetings on the GREATEST MINDS Boston's Black Nightlife has had over 100 people from all20areas of the nightlife and networking scene. We shared ideas, discussed strategies and proposed action steps for this initiative.

Where do you go as a BLACK 20something, 30something or 40something in Boston? Inquiring minds want to know?
We will also share our current options as a group ( Monday – Sunday ) for Black people in the city of Boston by generational categories
( please review and bring your options on where you go out and patronage - inquiring minds want to know and are you welcomed )

Millennium is defined as young people whose birth year falls between 1989 and 2000.
Generation Y is defined as adults whose birth year falls between 1980 and 1988.
Generation X is defined as adults whose birth year falls between 1965 and 1979.
