Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

Inaugural Schedule Now Available

The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Inaugural Celebration on Saturday, October 4, will bring thousands of people together for a day of activities, entertainment, learning and fun all along the Greenway. The detailed schedule of events is now available on our Inaugural Celebration website at hellogreenway.org or m.go2.com/grnway on your mobile phone. The schedule shows it is truly an event for everyone, with morning yoga, the Mothers' Walk Dedication, hip hop instruction, Ferris wheel rides, aquarium characters, storytelling, musical performances, award-winning films, cycling and walking tours and so mu ch more.  Get together with friends and neighbors, meet new friends and celebrate the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway as it reconnects the city.


Be an Inaugural Celebration Volunteer!

VolunteersExcitement is building for the Inaugural Celebration, the opening of the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, on Saturday October 4th. We anticipate that thousands of people will attend this free celebration along the new mile-long park, and we need several hundred volunteers to help make it successful.  If you would like to volunteer, please visit the event website at http://www.rosekennedygreenway.org/volunteer/. Greenway Walking Tour

The last of the season's walking tours of the R
Dewey Square Parkose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway offered by Boston By Foot, took place this month and explored the Dewey Square Parks to Chinatown Park.  As in the previous Greenway tours, participants learned the history of the neighborhoods that once occupied this space and the present day urban planning that is knitting Boston back together.  For more information, please visit Boston By Foot.

Chinatown ParkSpeaking of tours, Hub on Wheels, Boston's only citywide bike ride, is happening on Sunday, Sept 21, 2008. It's a great way to engage the city, promote your own fitness and support sustainable transportation all in one go. It is being sponsored by the City of Boston's Office of Bicycle Planning.
