Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

Roxbury Market Tour and Cooking Class-Saturday October 27 or Thursday November 15-10AM-2PM
Come learn about and taste the food of Jamaica, Trinidad, Cape Verde, West Africa, Ethiopia. Puerto Rico, the American South, and the Dominican Republic.
On this tour we will visit two local markets and a farm (yes in Roxbury!!) and then bring our bounty back to the caterer's kitchen of Roxbury Center for the Arts at Hibernian Hall where we will cook up a fantastic lunch. You are in for a tropical feast that is sure to wow your palate.

"We listen closely to the board, especially middle and high school teachers, and we program from the schools reading list," says Marshall Hughes, co-founder of the theater and Director of Visual, Performing, and Media Arts at Roxbury Community College. "The result is an engaged, invested audience of youngsters who are attentive and diverse."
It is typical to have Wellesley Middle School and Madison Park sitting and sharing the same classic theater productions. The production promises to engage our young audiences, and be equally as riveting for the seasoned theater goer.
