Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

Hi Jay-

I would like to invite you to First Friday Open Studios, the Friday after Labor Day, September 7th, from 5-9 pm., at 450 Harrison Ave., Studio 227, Boston, MA. I will also be open for South End Open Studios the following weekend, Sept. 15-16, from 11 am. to 6 pm.

To all of you who stopped by for First Friday in July, many thanks; I really enjoyed visiting with you! This month, in addition to new prints from my personal collection, I will continue to feature newly restored photographs of early 20th century China from the archive of my Grandfather, William Leete. Finally, I will have new examples of client work, both photography and Fine-Art reproductions.

I now offer a new service at Wm. Morse Editions. Many artists need high resolution art photography for slides, web, or other marketing purposes, in addition to the Fine-Art limited edition reproductions I am so well known for. Clients can now use this service for portfolio prints and slides, and for gallery and art fair submissions. Please contact me (see below) if you would like more information.

As always on First Fridays, the building's 15 galleries and more than 50 artists' studios will be open. This Friday, if you want to avoid the early evening crush in the galleries, come upstairs to the studios first, and visit the galleries on your way out!

There is off street parking at 500 Harrison Avenue as well as on street parking. The MBTA Silver Line stop is East Berkeley, just one block away.

See you this Friday!

Bill Morse

PS. I am looking for a StudioMate to share my 750 Sq. Ft. studio at 450 Harrison Ave., Boston- Available soon! This is an opportunity for photographers and artists working in many different mediums, but I need a low dust environment for my printmaking work. This is a great building for artists, with open studios the First Friday of every month, and over 75 other artists and designers as well as 15 galleries in the building. If you or anyone you know is interested in finding out more about this great opportunity, please contact me ASAP at the address above.

PPS. As you probably know, I send out many emails, so if you are able to come in this month, please introduce yourselves to me again, so that I can continue to connect your names and faces. And if you would consider forwarding this email to other friends or colleagues who would be interested, I would greatly appreciate it. If you received this email from a friend, and would like to subscribe to these monthly announcements, please send an email to the address above.
