Introduction to the black side.............

For a while I have been concerned that the black side of life and design here in the city of boston gets overlooked. In a city that is 51% minority with a Black Governor, why do we have to work so hard to know about all the exciting things that are happening in the city? Therefore the goal of this blog is to pass along information about events, activities, job opportunities and restaurant reviews from a minority perspective. The Black side or hidden side of life and design here in Boston is the scope of what you will find in the posts. And some occasional commentary will also make its way to the web. Enjoy!

Restaurants, Bars by Neighborhood

In cambridge - Middlesex - get there before 9:30pm on the weekend or you will wait in line.
Enormous Room
In Brookline Village
Matt Murphys pub good music after 10:30 or 11pm everynight
Southend
Lots of places - Pho Republic on Washington Street
the first friday of the month - open studios is really good
Stellas - look for the yellow umbrellas - have good food but too many pilgrims
Frankin has good food but recently remolded and it is not the same place.
Wallys has live jazz every night after 9:30pm
Downtown
Try Mantra for lunch or dinner - Cool space with night club downstairs late
West Street Grill - same as above
Goodlife - same as above

Hotel bar at the Swiss Hotel (it has a different name now)
Northend
the Living Room - Ok
Back Bay
The City Bar for drinks with friends - it is in the lenox Hotel. I think that is the right hotel

Sonsie on Newbury -looks upscale from the outside but is a great place to watch the red sox at the same time.

Cafe 29 - on newbury is where all the hairdresser hang out apparently. Good characters hangout there.
